jQuery IP250 Session One – follow up on performance issues

A few days ago I noted that these issues on the course website.  See notes for updates.

Wiki issues

  • multiple jsbin embeds in a single page are slow to load
    • used jQuery.togglelook for this arrow to see more in the course pages to hide all jsbin windows and other long code entries when the page loads. These can be displayed or hidden as necessary like the html5 details element. This doesn’t really address the load time, but it does fix the issue of the mouse scroll feature being caught unnecessarily in a jsbin window.  It does feel snappier overall – but I haven’t done a formal benchmark on it.
  • multiple jsbin embeds causes a problem in Firefox – focus wanders down the page
    • used jQuery to scroll to the top of the page.

      $(function() {
      $(window).scrollTop(0);
      });
